Order Silence learns your store's normal order rhythm and alerts you when orders drop far below it. A broken checkout or a failed app update gets caught within one to two hours, not discovered the next morning.

## How it works

1. **Install from the Shopify App Store.** No setup. The app reads your last 60 days of orders to learn what normal looks like for every 15 minutes of the week.
2. **It watches every 15 minutes.** It compares recent orders over the last hour up to the last three days with what your store usually sells, allowing for slow days and holidays.
3. **You get one clear alert.** By email, SMS or Slack: what dropped, by how much, what changed in your store just before, and a link to roll back your theme.

## Free order-history check

On https://ordersilence.com/#check, a Shopify merchant can load their order export (Shopify admin: Orders → Export → CSV). The file is analysed in the browser and never uploaded. It shows whether the store is a good fit, every past sales drop with an hour-by-hour chart of actual vs expected orders, and the estimated orders and sales lost.

## How well it works

Tested on three public order datasets: 20 stores of different sizes, each with 200 simulated outages per type in a held-out period.

| Store size | Orders stop for 4 hours | Orders stop for 8 hours | Lost orders saved by the alert | False alarms per month |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| 80+ orders a day | 96% caught | 99% caught | 75% | 1.9 |
| 40–80 orders a day | 71% caught | 90% caught | 49% | 0.8 |
| 20–40 orders a day | 28% caught | 59% caught | 20% | 0.4 |
| Under 20 orders a day | 3% caught | 16% caught | 3% | 0.2 |

Smaller stores have too few orders for silence alone to mean something, so Order Silence will also run a test checkout on your store every 15 minutes. Some "false alarms" in the test were real events, such as a national truckers' strike and days when a store's own traffic fell by a third.

## Questions

### How do I know if my Shopify checkout is broken?

Usually you don't, until a customer emails or you notice a quiet day in your reports. A checkout can break after a theme edit, an app update, a payment provider issue or a discount code change, while the store itself still loads fine. Order Silence watches the one signal that matters: whether orders keep arriving at your store's normal rate. When they stop or fall far below it, you get an alert, typically within one to two hours.

### My store had no orders today. Is something wrong?

It depends on how many orders a normal day brings. For a store that takes 100 orders a day, a quiet afternoon is a real warning sign; for a store that takes 5, it can be normal. Drop your Shopify order export into the check above: it shows whether your past quiet periods were unusual for your store, and how many orders they likely cost you.

### Why not use a regular uptime monitor?

Uptime monitors check whether your storefront loads. Most lost sales happen while it loads fine: the add-to-cart button stops working on mobile, a payment method fails in one country, or a script slows checkout. Order Silence measures sales directly, so it catches problems no one thought to test for.

### What counts as a sales drop?

Order Silence learns how many orders your store gets in every 15 minutes of the week from your last 60 days, adjusted for your recent level. It alerts when orders over the last hour, few hours or days are so far below that it's very unlikely to be a slow period, and the drop lasts at least 30 minutes. Public holidays are allowed for, and you get at most one alert per incident.

### Is my order data uploaded when I use the check on this page?

No. The file is read and analysed by your own browser. Only your country and the years in your file are sent to a public holiday calendar, so drops on public holidays can be marked.

### Does it work for small stores?

Order alerts work best from about 50 orders a day, and help from about 20. Below that, a quiet hour is normal and can't tell you much, so Order Silence will also run a test checkout on your store every 15 minutes.
